Mat Pilates
- The standard Mat Pilates class is for both for those new to Pilates as well
as those already familiar with the basic
Pilates concepts. Correct exercise technique is emphasized while moving through
a series of different mat exercises. Focus is on the body's "powerhouse" muscle
groups - the abdominals, back, buttocks, and thighs. As in all Pilates
classes, technique is emphasized, and modifications for those who are less
experienced as well as progressions for the more advanced student are offered.
Selected exercises may also include the option
of using small weighted
balls or Pilates Ultra-Fit circles for those desiring an additional
challenge.
Group Reformer Pilates
- Pilates in Motion's Group Reformer classes take an intimate group of four
clients
through a full
range of abdominal, back, leg, shoulder and arm exercise on the reformer
apparatus. New clients who have not had any experience on the equipment must
take a short introductory series of discounted private sessions in order to
obtain
basic knowledge in essential reformer exercises and functions. The Pilates
reformers
are highly versatile conditioning equipment designed by Joseph Pilates that
facilitate hundreds of exercise variations. There is no
impact and reformers allow for three dimensional movement and conditioning.
Suitable for all ages and fitness needs from the athlete to those
rehabilitating from injury, reformers facilitate balance, strength and
flexibility and provide both assistance and resistance throughout exercises.
All Pilates classes are approximately 50 to 60 minutes in length.
Clean socks are required for all Reformer sessions.
